Private Blog Networks Penalized and De-indexed by Google
Google Panda is currently de-indexing and heavily penalizing some Private Blog Networks which are heavily loaded with low or poor quality contents. These are Web sites whose contents are being created for the purpose of search engine optimization. Most of the de-indexed Websites are offering quick backlinks by publishing articles on a wide array of blogs. These blogs are the repositories of poor contents and usually spun articles. Spun articles are heavily-loaded with self-serving keywords and links created to optimize a certain Web site.
Before Panda 3.3 version was released, Google might have overlooked the tactics used by these Private Blog Networks. But now that Google has finally caught up, these companies are now paying their dues.
Spun articles are a big no-no for Google and other search engines. They are considered thin or low quality contents because they don’t contain much information for readers and search engines. These articles violate the major rules and policies established by most search engines for their users to follow. Yet one of the link creation strategies commonly abused is the creation of spun articles. These are usually published in numerous private blog networks for back-linking purposes.
Google is now very strict about quality of content which is usually measured based on originality, uniqueness and other factors. Google’s upgraded search engine algorithm can now detect low quality spun articles.
Google has now a new way of evaluating links. According to an article published in the official Google Search Blog, part of Google’s latest update in algorithm includes some changes in link evaluation. “We often use characteristics of links to help us figure out the topic of a linked page. We have changed the way on which we evaluate links; in particular, we are turning off a method of link analysis that we have used for several years. We often re-architect or turn off parts of our scoring in order to keep our system maintainable, clean and understandable.”
These latest development from the biggest search engine gives a very important lesson to search marketers. It is not a joke when your Web site gets de-indexed or penalized by Google. Search marketers should now shift to SEO strategies that are ethical and have long-lasting effects rather than using inappropriate quickink schemes.
